Hi! I am Katherine (Katie) Vetere born and raised in Brooklyn, New York turned Jersey
girl. I live with my husband, and 2 children. I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt,
friend, and educator. Both of my parents were educators and it has been my passion,
since childhood, to be a next generation leader. My experiences in school as a young
learner led me to where I am now. An educator with many backgrounds, and a broad
knowledge of learners.
I graduated from Monmouth University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Elementary Education and Anthropology. I continued my education and completed my
Masters Degree in Teaching Students with Disabilities at Pace University. I then went
on to achieve an advanced certificate in Teaching Gifted and Talented Students at
Hunter College. I didn’t stop there. While teaching at my last district, I completed my
Wilson Reading Program Level 1 Certification.
As a graduate of the above educational institutions, I have been exposed to rich and
diverse educational experiences, all with objectives to inspire and motivate students’
diverse learning preferences and environments. As a mother I find myself facilitating
learning both in my classroom as well as in my home. Teaching is my strength and my
calling. I believe when children are actively engaged in cooperative, student-centered
learning, they are more motivated to ask questions, explore their discoveries, and
express their opinions, resulting in successful lessons for both them and me. Both at
home and in my classroom, captivation, motivation, and accountability are key. This is
accomplished by implementing creativity and the use of technology. My educational
experiences have helped me become proficient at planning creative, differentiated
lessons, which provides for all types of learners.

When I am not teaching I, along with my husband Christopher, care for our two
children. My daughter, Autumn (5) is starting Kindergarten in the fall and she and I
love to do arts and crafts, build with magna tiles, learn new skills, and play outdoors.
My son, Christian (2) is my wild one. He and I love spending time with his cousins,
visiting the local library, attending mommy and me classes, and playing with trucks. As
a family we love to hike, visit local farms, bake yummy treats, and enjoy time with
family. Even though we love the outdoors, it is always nice to snuggle up on the couch
for a movie every so often. Time together is precious.

The Academy Way is the “WAY” we do school.
We are a network of Non-Traditional private schools specializing in discovering and cultivating the GREATNESS in children with Dyslexia, ADHD and Non-Traditional Learners.
Every child enters their school journey at different points. They each have different experiences, resources and teachings that they bring with them. Our school recognizes and embraces this.
The Academy Way, The Academy Virtual, and our affiliates are committed to the principle of equality.
