VIEWING YOUR STRUGGLE AS A STRENGTH
READING BLOWS!
I thought, I’m quoting Doug from The King of Queens, that
Reading comprehension was difficult for me, which made textbooks especially difficult. I had a special dislike for history textbooks. My son and I both shared similar struggles. I homeschooled him. I discovered a way that helped us both.
We would read out loud to each other, use audiobooks, write summaries, use Quizlet, flashcards, and jingles, among other things.
I was wrong about reading!

READING DOES NOT BLOW!
My son’s and my favorite subject now is history!
In the summers between the homeschool academic years, I challenged myself with reading classic literature on my own. By taking a class, having a schedule, and making a financial investment, I was able to stay on course and complete several great works of literature.
THERE IS A BETTER WAY!
The Academy Way is an amazing school that helps struggling learners read and find their greatness.
We have at most a 4-1 student-teacher ratio. I wish my son & I had this when we were little!
I, personally, have grown as a teacher by working for The Academy by understanding children with learning differences better.
I want to urge parents not to wait to get help for their children who struggle with reading!
Now I must go back to my book!
