Foundational classes in full-school program

In our Full-School Program, students participate in the following 4 Foundational Classes of 50 minutes each Monday-Friday:

• Wilson Reading System Structured Literacy
• Real-Life Math
• Lit Lab- Reading & Writing
• Earthology- Science, Geography & Social Studies

Each Foundational Class above is led by an amazing teacher who specializes in their respective content area. Each Foundational Class occurs with 2-6 total students participating in each class Monday- Friday (according to the school calendar). Should there be a situation where your student needs more focused and personalized attention, it may be suggested that he/she be moved to a 1:1 Tutoring situation from 2-5xs per week. In this scenario, your tuition may increase of decrease and classes may/may not be offered at the same frequency as he/she participates in during the Full-School Program.

Our amazing Full-School Program for 3rd - 8th graders is part of our Specialized Accredited Global Online School for Children with Dyslexia, ADHD, and Non-Traditional Learners. We are an affiliate of The Academy Way Network of Schools, serve students across the globe, and in your time zone. 

 The Wilson Reading System is the Structured Literacy program at the core of The Academy Way model. Research demonstrates that Structured Literacy is the most effective way to help students who have Dyslexia, other severe reading challenges, language processing issues, and/or poor writing and spelling skills. In fact, current research shows that a Structured Literacy program is the best way to teach all children, as well as those with Dyslexia, ADHD, and Non-Traditional Learners how to read. 

 The Academy Virtual and all of the schools of The Academy Way Network of Schools, use the Wilson Reading System as our Structured Literacy program of choice. We use this system for our students because of the decades of research and demonstrated success it has made in the lives of children of all ages. Since the start of our first school in 2020, our students have also experienced tremendous growth and success while using the Wilson Reading System.

 Real-Life Math is a core part of our philosophy at The Academy Virtual. We value the skills and concepts students gain through financial literacy as well as the core math concepts learned in a K-12 environment. We use two math curriculums in our program: Math U See and FitMoney. 

The Math U See curriculum concentrates on a specific set of skills, while reviewing concepts taught in previous levels. Virtual and hands on manipulatives are used to facilitate multisensory learning.  

America is facing a financial literacy epidemic. At the Academy, we provide a solution to this problem. By weaving the FitMoney curriculum into our weekly lessons, we ensure that students who attend our schools will develop money management skills that will successfully prepare them for adulthood.

 In our Lit Lab class, students are immersed in reading and language arts in a way that truly brings stories to life! This dynamic class is designed to build real world skills in conversation, critical thinking, and writing to communicate effectively. We don't just read books; we dive into them, exploring rich narratives, vibrant characters, and fascinating new ideas that challenge and expand young minds. Through interactive group discussions and thought-provoking activities, students learn to voice their opinions confidently and listen to others with empathy and curiosity.  

 In our Earthology class, we explore the incredible people, places, and systems of Earth! This vibrant course is designed to spark curiosity about the world around us and help students understand how everything on our planet is beautifully connected. From mapping out continents and oceans to discovering diverse cultures and traditions, we take our young explorers on a global journey right from the classroom. We dive into the fascinating natural systems that shape our environment and place a strong emphasis on real-world learning, connecting our classroom discoveries directly to the environment outside our doors.
